Community Involvement
Belonging and being active participants in our Parish and wider community is important to us at St John's. We enable opportunities for our students to participate in many different community activities including:
-
Our renowned annual Fete
-
The Student Choir, singing at School Concerts, ANZAC Day services, Whitehorse Community Festival, nursing home, Parish Family Masses and other community based events such as Pay it Forward Day
-
Harmony Day
-
Hip Hop Dancers perform at festivals and the fete
-
Pen Pals with elderly citizens through collaboration with Nunawading Police
-
Participating in ANZAC Day and memorial services in the city of Whitehorse
-
Social Justice actions, working with our students to raise awareness and money for local and broader communities needing support
Communication
At St John's we use an online Parent Access Module to communicate with our parents. PAM is a great way to send emails, alerts, excursion notices, medical updates, permission forms and camp notices.
Parents can access PAM using their unique login details.
School Advisory Council
The St John's School Advisory Council is a parent group who works collaboratively with the School Principal. The Council provides insight, advice and feedback that helps guide current operations and future planning.
The School Advisory Council is a strong a link between the Parish, Principal, staff and parents, in relation to the provision of Catholic education in the community. The School Advisory Council promotes community development by fostering a strong interrelationship between the Primary school, secondary colleges and pre-schools.
If you are interested in being involved in the School Advisory Council, email principal@sjmitcham.catholic.edu.au
