100 Days of Prep
On Wednesday 30 July, our Foundation students celebrated their 100th day of school! To mark this special milestone, the children came dressed as 100-year-olds, complete with walking sticks, glasses, and plenty of grey hair.
In the lead-up to the big day, we prepared by writing about what we would like 100 of and why. Some answers were heart-warming (and a little ambitious!) a few children said they’d like 100 puppies and would walk them every day! We also created 100-day self-portraits of what we might look like if we were 100 years old, focused our handwriting activities around the number 100, and used 100 charts to help us visually understand the number.
On the day, students brought in a collection of 100 small items — pasta pieces, buttons, pom poms, paperclips, beads — to use in a fun mathematics activity. We practised counting our items using the 100 charts, strengthening our number sense while having plenty of laughs. It was a joyful celebration of learning, growth, and the amazing achievements of our first 100 days together.
